The MOL-New Europe Foundation aims to drive progress in various domains by assuming responsibility for social initiatives and carrying out tasks in sports, culture, healthcare, economic development, and environmental conservation. They strongly believe that each of us bears the responsibility for our living environment and for the coming generations. Their conviction lies in the notion that genuine success in the present can only be achieved when it serves the future.
Profile
Hungarian skipper Szabolcs Weöres is building his own path in solo offshore racing within the IMOCA class. After starting the Vendée Globe 2024, he continues to develop the New Europe project with determination and a clear long-term vision. His approach combines endurance, innovation, and sustainability. With a background in dinghy sailing, keelboats and match racing, he also worked as a rigger for Team Shosholoza during the 32nd America’s Cup, before pursuing a career in the sailing industry.
Committed to a gradual approach to building his solo sailing experience, Szabi was nevertheless forced to abandon the race during this edition. Alongside his sailing career, he has distinguished himself in the sporting arena with several appearances in Ironman races, marathons completed in under three hours, and a place at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii. His philosophy remains unchanged for this season: to move forward step by step, capitalising on every experience to continue his journey offshore.
