I) Understanding Our Impact to Take Better Action. The first pillar of our environmental commitment is measuring our impact in order to better understand it.

Carbon Footprint Assessment :

After developing a methodology specifically tailored to offshore racing with Carbone 4 and Toovalu during the previous cycle, Vendée Arctique 2026 marks the beginning of a new cycle that will allow us to assess our progress against our original baseline while further refining our calculation methods and data collection processes.

Aligned with the Paris Agreement, our objective is to halve the carbon footprint of our events by 2050.

Fair Play For Planet :

Beyond our carbon impact, we also want to measure our progress across other indicators, whether environmental (waste generation, for example) or social (accessibility, diversity, etc.). With this objective in mind, we have launched a certification process with Fair Play For Planet, a leading organisation in sustainable sport in France.

Founded by former international rugby player Julien Pierre, Fair Play For Planet developed the first eco-responsibility label dedicated to stakeholders across the sports industry. Sports organisations applying for the FPFP label are audited by experts according to the FPFP framework, which is based on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and was developed in collaboration with ADEME. As a benchmark label within the sports sector and a certified social enterprise (ESUS), Fair Play For Planet awards the FPFP label to candidate organisations according to their environmental performance and societal commitments.
