Ambrogio Beccaria, 33, embodies a generation of skippers who approach ocean racing with method and lucidity. Born in Milan, this nautical engineer has established himself as one of the most solid Italian sailors of his generation, combining technical mastery, strategic sense and solo sailing experience.
After starting out in crewed and double-handed racing, he reached a milestone in 2019 by becoming the first Italian to win the Mini Transat, a landmark success that secured his place on the international stage. Awarded TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year in 2018 and 2019, then honoured with the Ambrogino d'Oro by the city of Milan, he has since racked up an impressive list of achievements: 29 regattas contested, 23 podium finishes and 17 victories.
Between 2022 and 2024, in Class40, he confirmed this trajectory with Alla Grande – Pirelli: second in the 2022 Route du Rhum, winner of the 2023 Transat Jacques Vabre and the 2024 Transat CIC. These performances were built over time, based on reliability and mastery of the project.
In April 2025, he began a new chapter with Mapei and joined the IMOCA class at the helm of the foiler Allagrande Mapei, with a clear goal: the 2028 Vendée Globe. A structured and determined skipper, he is progressing step by step and building a consistent career at the highest level of offshore racing.
