Charlie Dalin, the solo skipper of APIVIA was the first to pass the gate set in the south-east of Iceland overnight from Thursday to Friday at 02:23:20hrs HF, 00:23:20 UTC. He completed this first part of the course in 4 days, 9 hours, 23 minutes and 20 seconds. After taking a very western option to get through the first the skipper who originates from Le Havre in northern France took a more northern route and took the lead in the standings on Thursday before widening the gap.

In accordance with the decisions that were taken on Thursday evening, the race is therefore put on hold awaiting the passage of a depression. Charlie Dalin can now take shelter before resuming his race. The sailors start again according to their time at the gate, this stop will not affect the final classification in Les Sables d'Olonne: whoever crosses the line will therefore be declared the winner.
