For eight days, the Vendée Arctique village was much more than a simple departure point. It became a vibrant gathering place where sailing enthusiasts, families, school groups, partners, volunteers and curious visitors came together to discover the world of the skippers preparing for their adventure towards the Arctic Circle.

Opportunities for interaction naturally played a central role. Throughout the week, visitors were able to meet the sailors, attend autograph sessions, listen to them share their experiences on stage and learn more about the causes they support through their sporting projects. This close connection is a precious part of the race’s DNA.

Among the most memorable highlights, the “Women Offshore” evening provided a moment of inspiration and discussion about the role of women in offshore racing. Alongside the Alice Milliat Foundation, several skippers took to the stage before the screening of the documentary dedicated to Violette Dorange, leading to rich and heartfelt exchanges with the audience.

Environmental commitment, which lies at the heart of the Vendée Arctique’s identity, was also brought to life during Environment Day. The beach clean-up organised at Plage de la Paracou served as a reminder of the importance of protecting the oceans that sailors navigate throughout the year. Discussions around Plastic Odyssey further extended that reflection by offering positive and hopeful perspectives for the future.

The week was also punctuated by numerous festive events. Activities for children, exhibitions, creative workshops, shows, concerts and musical evenings all helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the village. The energy was praised by many visitors, as well as by local officials present throughout the event, including Alain Lebœuf, who joined the public for several of these memorable moments.

Now, however, it is time for the race itself.

After this festive and purposeful interlude, all eyes turn towards the sea. Tomorrow, the dock lines will be cast off and a new adventure will begin.
