Élodie Bonafous has been handed a 12-hour penalty
The sailor from Association Petits Princes – Quéguiner was penalised by the jury for sailing within a Traffic Safety Scheme (TSS). Known as the ‘North Channel TSS’, this zone is located in the North Channel separating Ireland from England. After gathering all the necessary evidence, conducting an investigation and deliberating, the jury decided to impose a twelve-hour penalty on Élodie Bonafous.
She must serve this penalty at sea, on the course, in accordance with very specific conditions. Élodie must do so either before 50°20’ N (i.e. before the south-western tip of England) or after the Isle of Sein (48°01’). This penalty will add to the suspense regarding the top places between now and the finish, expected during the night of Monday to Tuesday. Since heading back towards the Arctic Circle, Élodie has been in second place behind the leader, Sam Goodchild (Macif Santé Prévoyance).
